Prince William and Kate Middleton are engaged and will marry this April 29, 2011,
William, 28, proposed during a holiday in Kenya after asking Kate's father for his daughter's hand following a marathon eight-year courtship.
Kate, also 28, had been dubbed 'Waity Katy' amid criticism she was hanging on for a proposal and did not have a proper job but now her wait is finally over.
The couple will appear in public, when the Princess-in-waiting is expected to show off her engagement ring. The first ever interview was broadcast November 16, 2010.
David Cameron said William is 'extremely excited' and 'thrilled' as he appeared outside No10 to welcome the news this lunchtime.
Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton have set up a charitable gift fund for those who very generously may wish to donate to charity to help the couple celebrate their wedding.
Prince William and his bride-to-be Kate Middleton have set up a new charity fund to celebrate their Apr. 29 wedding,
The couple want well-wishers who were considering sending them a present to contribute to the fund instead, with money raised to be distributed among 26 small charities -- all of which have been personally chosen by the Royal couple.
Most of the charities are small, little-known causes that have no royal patronage and are UK-based, although three are in Canada, New Zealand and Australia.
One of the chosen charities is the Berkshire Community Foundation, which provides grants for local groups. It is particularly significant for Middleton, whose family live in Berkshire in southern England.
